Problem:
Various projects carried out by the École Polytechnique on behalf of the MTQ pertained to experimental aspects and theoretical models. The results obtained must be synthesized. The effect of traffic loading, the harmful effect of water on pavement behaviour and frosting problems must be explored further.
Objectives:
1) Evaluate the effectiveness of drainage layers. 2) Establish the criteria of use of drainage layers to produce a pavement drainage guide.
Methodology:
1) Review the literature on drainage courses. 2) Compile the data from the experimental sites (10 sites). 3) Perform additional surveys, if applicable. 4) Produce hydric models for each site. 5) Compare the experimental results with the theoretical models (distribution of water content and degrees of saturation, lowering of the water table, water flows, structural behaviour).
